SURE, THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION may have done a good job of shooting themselves in the foot lately. However, before Terri Schiavo, the Medicare fiasco, and support for ID, there existed and still exists the administration’s terrible PR, not helped by the leftist so-called mainstream media (MSM) as exemplified by Dan Rather.
In 1999, Bill Clinton stood on that famous podium of his and all but took credit for the delisting of the bald eagle from the Endangered Species list. In classical Clinton style, he didn’t follow up on it, and seven years later, the species has to be ordered delisted by a federal judge with nary a peep from the President or the MSM, despite the fact that the population has since increased by over 1,300 nesting pairs.
In a political world shaped by public perception, PR should be the Administration’s first line of defense against the MSM. We have no desire to return to the Clintons days of all talk and little action, but the question of why they aren’t out there celebrating the progresses we make in the scientific & economic front continues to baffle.
Other News: From the “Does this surprise anyone?” and the “Anyone who eats ketchup with hot dogs is asking for it!” departments, science finds that hot dogs are evil.
OK–but Al Gore did invent the Internet, didn’t he?
Didn’t he?
