An Open Letter to the People of the United States

We are closing in on 100 days in the Administration of President Obama and in the Congressional rule of Reid and Pelosi. The mask of what a Democrat is has been ripped from their faces for all to see, even those who blindly put their faith in Hope and Change. Now is the time to open your eyes, people and see what you have put in power. Let’s look a just a few of the ideas already implemented and those being pushed and promised.

1. Cap and Trade. President wants to cap CO2 emissions. What does this mean? It means that business and power plants will only be allowed to emit a maximum level of gases and if they need more they must buy permits to emit more on the market. Where the “more” will come from is a mystery, but presumably from companies that restrict their emissions. A company has several ways to perform that restriction. The first is to spend a great deal on technology to reduce emissions. This will drive up the cost of their products, making them uncompetitive with others who do not upgrade. How many companies can afford such a thing? The second is to restrict their products to low energy consuming products – a nice way of saying that they will ship that production overseas, probably to China, India or other rapidly industrializing countries. China and India will not be putting caps on their emissions. So the world will not see a reduction in emissions and the putative reason for cap and trade goes down the drain – a cleaner planet with less Anthropogenic Global Warming. The quickest way to World War III would be to tell China what they can and cannot do with their manufacturing and economy. An economic squeeze by banning products from China and India would have the same effect. Plus there is the additional effect. After companies send power hungry operations overseas, then their caps will be tightened because they would no longer need higher ones. Power plants will not be able to ship production overseas – you can only get so much from Canada. Therefore their costs will go up as the demand by the growing population expands. Those costs will be passed on to each consumer. The estimate is that Cap and Trade will cost each household $3000/year. Obama wants to use some of the money (trillions) from Cap and Trade to subsidize low income people for that increase. There is no dollar figure for who would be “lower income”, but $50,000 is a good starting point. If you make more than $50,000 as a household (and that is most people) you are getting a $3000 tax increase. Obama has not even mentioned nuclear power which is about the only thing that could reduce global emissions. The anti-nuke lobby has him in its pocket. 2. Government Health Care. There is much world wide experience with Government Health Care. Yes it does offer health care to all citizens for little directly out of pocket cost, although the tax burden is hardly no cost. The US has the best quality care in the world and the present system certainly has its problems, but how can a Government Health Care System fix those problems? You lose your choices – doctors, hospitals, what treatments to pursue, and timeliness. Plus, as shown by all existing Government Health Care Systems, health services may be denied, especially to the elderly. This is tantamount to Government Forced Passive Euthanasia. Can Government Forced Active Euthanasia be far off? “Sorry, Barack, you are too old and decrepit and we need the money for other things. Go off into the wilderness and die quietly.” Surely some money is wasted now on life prolonging treatments, but it is your choice and your money. You won’t have a choice in a Government system and there will be no USA to go to to get treatment that you want like there is now. There is a reason why the quality of our health care is better than anywhere else, we pay for and demand the best. Think that will happen under Government Heath Care? And what is the cost of this boondoggle? Pharmaceutical companies will be very hard hit. It will not pay them to develop new drugs and treatments since Uncle Sam will be capping the amount they can charge for new drugs. It costs $100-200 million to bring a new drug to market, not counting the many that never make it. How will a pharmaceutical company recoup their R&D costs? The cost of such a plan will be staggering. Millions of lost jobs (pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, insurance companies) and a huge relocation of those jobs into government paper pushing jobs. If you think you will get free health care, think again. Taxes will have to be increased (estimates of $1 trillion per year) and Obama will once again try to make the burden fall on the “rich”, but to make it work Obama’s “rich” figure of $250,000 will have to come down, significantly. But he won’t call it a tax, so you can breathe easier. I Ask You, again, People of America – is President Obama an Idiot or a Malevolent Marxist?
3. Capping Salaries. Barney Frank and President Obama and others have both suggested capping executive salaries at $500,000. Is the entire Congress made up of economic idiots? Have none ever heard of basic economics? Many of President Obama’s plans call for big increases in income taxes on the “rich” (defined as those households making more than $250,000). Capping at $500,000 means that there is $250,000 in these households to be sucked up by the tax man. There are not that many people who would fall into that $250,000-500,000 interval and if the $250,000 difference were taxed at 100% there would not be enough money to pay for the plans listed above. And the net effect would be to drop the salary cap to $250,000. People are not going to accept the huge responsibility of running a major corporation for $250,000 and they should not. So when tax receipts fall less than they are required, when 100% of any household’s income over $250,000 is taxed and you can’t make more even if you wanted to, what will happen? First, the black market is going to explode. Second, taxes on those making less than $250,000 will have to be increased to make up the shortfall. Pay up suckers. Once again I Ask You People of America – is President Obama an Idiot or a Malevolent Marxist?
4. Big 3. A touchy business this. I hope Ford will survive. Chrysler may be taken over by Fiat. I’m not sure Fiat will get their money’s worth, but we will see. GM’s CEO has resigned at the request of President Obama. So the takeover of GM by the government is complete. They will now dictate to production of small, “greener” cars. They will subsidize you if you buy one. Uncle Sam has already tossed around $15 billion at GM and Chrysler and are promising more if they come up with “acceptable restructuring plans”. Now there is one more piece. I predict that once Uncle Sam has control over GM, which will likely be run by the UAW, they will then require you to buy only a GM product, through subsidies and extra “fees” (penalties) attached to the purchase of a Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc. They will use those fees to offset the losses on the GM cars that few will buy. Once again, do President Obama and the Barney Franks of the world, have any idea of Econ 101? However, the bailout of GM will continue, because of the political power of the UAW. What a sorry sight that once great company will be when it is US-GMC Corporation. “We don’t want to run the auto companies” – Obama. Right, but we want to make sure you can’t run it either. GM will have to shrink to a very small enterprise. So there goes a lot of UAW jobs. Oh, we can’t have that, so we will subsidize them to “save those jobs”. Hang onto your wallets, people. And that is not just for those making over $250,000. The overall economy would be much better served by GM going Chapter 11 and selling off each unit to the highest bidder. Fewer jobs would be lost and less wealth would be destroyed in the long run. So, is President Obama an Idiot or a Malevolent Marxist?
5. Huge Deficits. These are already here. You voted for this, people of America. There is no belt tightening in Washington right now. The Congress and its Mental/Moral equivalent in the White House are going hog wild. And to pay for it the Printing Presses are also going wild. Well what does that mean? Again all this is simple Econ 101. Do you make $250,000 now and are comfortable with those making more getting higher taxes and a tax cut for you? What do these deficits mean? They mean inflation. Surprise, your $250,000 in 10 years will spend like $100,000 (maybe worse), but you won’t be paying higher income taxes (you actually believe this?). Everything you buy will cost more, but your income will not go up, unless you are willing to be sucked dry by the tax man. Your standard of living has taken a big hit, but you voted for this so you can’t complain. These deficits are not going to come down, because President Obama has not only used rosy economics to forecast future years, but because he has ignored (purposely?) the effect these policies will have the economy and individuals. He thinks you will continue to make the effort you now make and even increase it, only to be punished for that effort. He thinks companies will continue to produce and sell at levels before this economic meltdown. President Obama is Either a Fool or a Malevolent Marxist.

To The People of America. I submit to you that 53% of the electorate in 2008 were sucked in by Hope and Change. I submit that those people were either fools or Marxists bent on destroying the United States of America. Be honest, President Obama said what he would do, and you 53% either ignored him or applauded. For those who were fools, the only recourse is to get rid of Obama in 2012 and vote in 2010 to gridlock the House and Senate before unrecoverable damage can be done.

Is President Obama an Idiot (Fool) or a Malevolent Marxist? It is a simple question. There are three possible answers. He is an Idiot (Fool). But an idiot or fool would not be able to so systematically in less than 100 days destroy so much wealth and smash the greatest economy in the world. He is not an idiot. He is not a fool. If he were he would resemble Jimmy Carter and we would have fewer worries because we would be able to recover from his foolishness. The second possibility is that he is merely a puppet and there is some evil puppet master pulling his strings. I am unable to muster enough tin foil to see this as a real possibility. The third is that he is a Malevolent Marxist. By his own actions and unscripted words (Joe the plumber), this is exactly what he is. People of America – we won the Cold War and defeated Marxism. But now we opened the door and let Marxism in the front door. Who are the Idiots?

What Can We Do? The first thing to do is get the Congress gridlocked in 2010. We must stop the purposeful destruction of our economy and country. In the meantime, for those who can, quit. Open a small business that will give you your basic needs and little else. Take your productive capacity to the sidelines. Remove your abilities and drive from the economy. It’s not going anywhere fast for the next four years anyway. This will aggravate the tax and spend machine into so overreacting that even most left of center people will have to see it. If you can retire, retire. Don’t invest in companies that will support the madness in Washington. For those who have an itch to live in a foreign country, now’s the time. Remember, your children and grandchildren are going to get stuck with the enormous costs of President Obama’s Marxism. You owe it to them to fight back now, before it is too late. You must impress on your children simple economics and show them how Washington is violating every economic principle known for hundreds of years. Economics alone is sufficient reason to determine the effects of current Washington policy. The freedom that the minutemen stood for at Lexington and Concord is about to be wiped out by the current administration, the freedom that my father and many other fathers fought for in World War II. President Obama will give you the right to eat, sleep and toil for the State like caged animals. The Founding Fathers gave you the freedom to be what you make of yourself – greatness or abjectivity.

One more note, California is bankrupt. President Obama will be forced to bailout Arnold. That means you, people of America, are going to be responsible for the economic idiocies of the California Legislature. Like it? New York is in trouble, too. This open letter concerns only the Idiocies of Washington, but we better watch out states closely too, because in taking President Obama’s “Stimulus Package” money they have agreed to increase state commitments in the future. Your state taxes are going up too.

No one can say “I didn’t know that would happen”, without being an idiot or purposely ignorant. If you want future generation of Americans to live life in a third rate Marxist state, you can go to bed smiling. If you want America to continue to be great and fuel human progress, reach for the ulcer medication.

President Obama, Senator Reid, Speaker Pelosi and the Barney Franks of the world must be stopped. You must either fight them now and to your last breath at the ballot box. Or you can give in to them and let the country (and the world) collapse into anarchy, filth and disease, waiting for a new awakening of freedom of the human spirit. There is no way to compromise with those who wish to destroy you.
